For those coming here for the first time let us recommend the route Nr. 625 route Nr. 625 from Sella Nevea, which is likely the most beautiful and maybe the easiest, too.
Route Nr 625from SELLA NEVEA
The trail starts behind the barracks of the Customs Police at Sella Nevea (1175 m). Go through the pine forest slightly uphill we go for about 35-40 min. before getting out to the open space, where - from the left hand side you pass by the stables of Cregnedul, while having a magnificent view onto the Canin. From here once again uphill across a wide, grassy valley leaving a couple of former military bunkers behind (1610). Here turn right around a wide slope to reach the Cregnedul valley, from where there are serpentine roads taking to the Passo degli Scalini (Staircase). Traversing the Valley of Forcella Lavinal dell Orso after a little decline the route meets the trail Nr. 628 coming from Malga Grantagar, go the rocky path below Parete delle Gocce around Ago di Villaco, and here you are at the Mountain Hut Guido Corsi.
You leave the Tarvisio – Sella Nevea national road when you leave a few km-s the lake Raibl behind. As a sign you will see a stone crucifix, that’s where the trail Nr. 628 starts from. Right at the first turn you can stop at the boundery stone of the late Austr-Hungarian Monarchy, Where – from the Italian side the lion of Venice is still well visible. From here for a good one hour and a half follow the road across a forest full of birds singing around. At the end of the forest there is a wonderful view for the so called “amphitheatre of the Giulia Alps”. Here you have two choices:
1. From the right hand side leave the goods lift following the trail towards the stables, turn right via serpentine roads uphill, still to the right below the walls of the Parete delle Gocce, finally just below you will notice the sight of the mountain hut.
2. Slightly shorter but harder track: The route starts from under the lower station of the goods lift (about 30 m), it is called Il Sentiero dei Tedeschi (The German’s Way) – indicated by the sing of C.A.I. (Italian Alpinist Federation). Jumping over two gentle creeks you go uphill around the foot of the hill. Crossing a slightly exposed cornice ( ensured by a 15 m long steel wire) you reach a valley where your trail meets trali Nr. 650 (Re di Sassonia). Some more serpentine roads take you to the hut.
